Distinguishing meaning from use.
\n– Recording of authentic examples.
\n– Detailed presentation of the combinations of words: beauty: angelic, unsurpassed, incredible, absolute, incomparable, discreet, dazzling, explosive, impressive, exceptional, exotic, classic, enchanting, unique, artificial. Male, female, external, internal, spiritual, physical, mental.
\n– Accurate stylistic identification of words and expressions.
\n– Negotiate stereotypical or idiomatic expressions and fixed lexical synapses on a new basis at the end of each entry. See the entries life, eye.
\n– List the chronology of appearance of English and French words, as well as stereotypical expressions. This opens new horizons in the history of culture and science. Indicative examples: vitamin <French vitamin, 1913. ecotourism <English ecotourism, 1982. livermore <international. livermorium, 2012.\n\nMore specifically, 5,000 neologisms have been recorded that do not exist in any other dictionary, the double spelling is introduced, which is found in about 500 words (egg or egg; company or company; sorry or sorry?) While phrases that until recently were considered wrong are also recorded, but are widely used, such as \"pays tribute\" or \"pays tribute\", \"the bags of Aeolus\" or \"the bag of Aeolus\".\n\nThe meanings are unified and the meaning is distinguished from the use, as in the case of the verb \"cut\", which according to some dictionaries has 53 meanings, while according to the \"User Dictionary of the Modern Greek Language\" the meanings are ten and the rest are uses.\n\nExamples of phrases often used by the world are recorded, while in English and French loans the date of first appearance is noted.\n\nThe precise stylistic definition of words and expressions through 30 criteria is interesting. For example, the word \"cat\" is categorized as slang, the phrase \"ekpaglou kalloni\" as ancient, the term \"commonplace\" as incorrect instead of the correct \"commonplace\" and the word \"bouzoukleri\" as humorous.\n\n\" The Academy, with the dictionary, does not aim at regulating the language. It presents in a systematic way and scientifically verified the real form of Modern Greek, its linguistic richness and its wonderful expressive possibilities. The multitude of neologisms and the new meanings contained in it show the creative power of the Greeks in the language and refute those who mourn for its deterioration \", underlined the general secretary of the Academy, Vassilios Petrakos.\n\nDespite the high cost of its creation (it cost about one million euros, of which 760,000 euros were provided by the Ministry of Finance), the dictionary will be available at a price of 48 euros, while from the bookstore of the Academy it will be sold to teachers of all levels and students at the special price of 35 euros. Proceeds from it will be donated to research by young unemployed scientists.\n\nThe presentation event of the dictionary of the Academy of Athens was attended by, among others, the Minister of Culture Costas Tassoulas and a number of academics.\n<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
3,000,000 word-tiles 75,000 entries 103 fields of knowledge All these compose the 1,819 pages of the new dictionary of the<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":220,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-219","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-articles"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/shop.bwsa.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/219","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/shop.bwsa.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/shop.bwsa.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/shop.bwsa.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/shop.bwsa.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=219"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/shop.bwsa.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/219\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":467,"href":"https:\/\/shop.bwsa.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/219\/revisions\/467"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/shop.bwsa.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/220"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/shop.bwsa.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=219"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/shop.bwsa.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=219"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/shop.bwsa.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=219"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
